EL PASO, Texas- EL PASO, Texas- A downtown El Paso neighborhood is nationally declared a historic district. The Magoffin Historic District is no longer historic to the Sun City but now it’s on the National Registry of Historic Places. The district is a primarily residential neighborhood located near downtown El Paso. It includes century-old houses, vintage apartment buildings and a Texas State Historical Site. The vice chair of the El Paso County Historical Commission, Max Grossman said, “it enhances the status of El Paso it makes scholars and tourists more aware of our architectural assets.” There are five historic districts in downtown El Paso in addition to Magoffin. The Magoffin Historic District is comprised of 205 properties built between 1875 and 2002.
